The west wing was added by Nelson Dane, a descendant of Admiral Lord Nelson, during the 1960s as servants’ quarters for his French wife’s (Gisele’s) two maids, who accompanied her from France

The present full bathroom originally contained two bidets (the maids used the toilet and shower in the bathroom off the kitchen in the main house)

Renovations in 2006-2007 included new natural river stone flooring, tumbled travertine marble tile, a new elongated toilet, new premium plumbing fixtures, restoration of mouldings and built-ins, plastering the walls and ceiling, 3 coats of low-VOC paints, and a reproduction 18th century lighting fixture handmade by Amish craftspeople in Lancaster County, PA
